Connecticut Headshot Photographer
for Executives, Teams, and Professionals

A Modern Editorial Approach to Professional Portraits.

My style is clean, minimal, and intentionally lit to highlight your expression without distraction. The focus is on you — your presence, your capability, your warmth. I bring the same precision and editorial eye to portraiture that I apply to commercial fashion work. The result is a headshot that doesn't look like a headshot. It looks like you, at your best.

Recognized by the Industry's Leading Authority on Headshots

Peter Hurley is the most recognized headshot photographer in the world. His Headshot Crew is the professional community he built for photographers who take portraiture seriously. I'm a Mentor in that community — contributing technical guidance and a marketing book club, started in 2023, that became the Marketing for Photographers course. When you book a session, you're working with someone who operates at that level.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a headshot session take?

It depends on the person and the goal. Someone who is camera-ready, groomed, confident, and wardrobe selected, can be done in 10 to 15 minutes. Others take longer: if you want to try multiple outfits, work through different expressions to get a range of looks, or simply need more time to settle in front of the camera, that's built into the process. I've had clients block out four hours in their calendar, not because the shoot takes that long, but because they didn't want anything before or after it creating pressure to rush. That's the right instinct. The goal is never to rush. Time should not be a constraint on getting it right.

Where do sessions take place?

All sessions are on location. Your office, your building, your environment. No studio to find, no unfamiliar space to navigate before the camera comes out. Being on familiar ground makes the whole process easier, and it shows in the images. I serve clients across Greater Hartford and Litchfield County and shoot regularly in New York City.

How do team headshot sessions work?

Team sessions are individual sessions run back to back. The challenge is that most organizations think of them the way they think of school photos or badge photos: fast, functional, forgettable. That approach produces exactly those results. I advocate for as much time per person as possible. The practical compromise is usually 10 to 15 minutes per person, though some corporate schedules compress that further. Quality starts to drop below five minutes per person, regardless of what you may hear from photographers whose marketing depends on volume. Total session time for a team ranges from two hours to two weeks depending on how many people need to be captured.

What should I wear?

For business professionals:

Wear the most formal version of your daily work attire. The outfit you'd choose if you knew the CEO was touring the office with the board that day. Avoid anything that pulls attention away from your face: complex patterns, bright colors, ornamental stitching, distracting jewelry, or hair that falls across your eyes. A headshot is cropped at the chest, so what you wear below the belt technically doesn't appear in the frame. But wear what makes you feel confident. Confidence shows on your face. If a great pair of shoes or a well-fitted pair of trousers puts you in the right headspace, wear them.

For non-corporate clients:

The calculus is different. The wardrobe should reflect how you want to be seen by the people you're trying to reach. I photographed the owner of an arborist business whose daily uniform involves climbing trees and chainsaw oil. His headshot had him in a clean collared shirt with a well-groomed appearance. He wanted to show up as a business owner. We also photographed him and his crew in the field, in their working clothes, ready to go. Both sets of images were right for different purposes.

Are the photos retouched?

Yes. All sessions include professional retouching. The goal is to make you look like yourself on your best skin day at your current age, not a younger or significantly altered version of you. Retouching that goes beyond that standard, including composite work or significant graphic modifications, is available at an additional cost.

What if I don't like how the photos turn out?

The goal is to prevent that from happening in the first place. During your session, we pause periodically to review images together on a laptop, looking at what's working and what could be stronger before we move on. By the time the session ends, you've already seen the direction the images are heading.

After delivery, you have a few days to review and request additional retouching. Light adjustments are handled at no charge within the first week. More significant retouching is available for an additional fee. Reshoots are rarely necessary, but I have offered them at a discount when the situation called for it.
